Our company is looking for an experienced Database Engineer to lead the development of the Data Migration Plan, manage database schemas and indexing, optimize ETL processes, and ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) data security standards for the development, deployment, enhancement, and sustainment of DCIPS Future – a high-impact information system hosted in MC&FP’s AWS GovCloud environment.
Position Responsibilities:
• Design metadata schemas and tagging strategies to support semantic alignment across Salesforce and VA legacy systems
• Guide development of source-to-target mappings, data lineage documentation, and field-level reconciliation logic
• Collaborate with the Platform Modernization Lead and SAL to ensure integration flows preserve data fidelity, traceability, and governance compliance
• Support the development of configuration artifacts, record classification standards, and technical documentation
• Advise on encryption, retention, and classification frameworks aligned to FedRAMP High and DoD SRG controls
• Contribute to data model design to future-state EA planning in coordination with VA enterprise architects
• Review metadata strategy impacts on end-user workflows, training materials, and sustainment documentation
Skills:
• Expertise in AWS GovCloud database services, ETL processes, and data security practices
• Proficient in designing metadata schemas and tagging strategies
• Experience developing configuration artifacts and technical documentation
• Past experience working in high-security environments
• Active DoD Secret clearance required, Top Secret preferred for handling sensitive data
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Database Engineering, or a related field
• 10+ years of experience in database engineering, with at least 7 years in DoD or high-security environments
• Certifications such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty or Oracle Certified Professional
