DevOps Engineer
Position Overview
The DevOps Engineer supports the design, implementation, automation, and sustainment of secure cloud and hybrid infrastructure for mission-critical Department of Defense (DoD) systems. This role enables continuous integration, delivery, and monitoring of applications and infrastructure supporting casualty and personnel systems within AWS GovCloud environments.
Working within an Agile and DevSecOps framework, the DevOps Engineer ensures secure, compliant, and automated deployment pipelines aligned with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), Zero Trust principles, and STIG hardening requirements. The role supports full system lifecycle activities including development, integration, testing, deployment, and operations & sustainment.
This is a remote role with onsite travel possible.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 5–8 years of experience supporting DevOps or DevSecOps environments.
Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodePipeline).
Experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native architecture (AWS GovCloud preferred).
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
Experience with configuration management and version control tools (Git, GitLab, etc.).
Knowledge of RMF, NIST 800-53, STIG hardening, and secure system deployment practices.
Experience supporting Linux and/or Windows server environments.
Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps methodologies.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
Desired Qualifications
Active DoD Secret clearance.
AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect, or related certification.
Experience supporting systems in AWS GovCloud (IL2–IL5).
Experience implementing containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
Experience integrating automated security testing and vulnerability scanning tools.
Knowledge of Zero Trust architecture and secure cloud design.
Experience supporting ATO packages and continuous monitoring activities.
Security+ or other DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification.
ITIL or related service management certification.
